Background: I have been involved with West House since 2013. Our son, Richard, has been supported by West House both in day services and at Midtown Farm.
I wanted to be more involved in West House’s activities and help spread the word about the fantastic services they offer. We struggled to find the support we needed when our son turned 18 and I know many parents in our position who still do. I want to ensure we are offering our clients as much as we can and with first-hand experience as a client, I can help to communicate the needs of clients and develop ideas with the rest of the Board and Managers.
I think there is more we can offer our clients and it is through talking to others on the Board and the Managers that these ideas can be developed.
Background: I am a qualified accountant with experience in health, care and education. I currently work for Lakes College West Cumbria as the Deputy Principal and prior to this worked in the operational side of the care sector, supporting live-in and daycare.
I joined the board in 2020 having been aware of West House’s reputation through the college and as a Board member of Westfield Housing Association. I’d like to think that my experience and skills can support West House to continue its great work in supporting children, young people and adults with learning and other difficulties in Cumbria.
Background: I’ve worked in Finance for Social Enterprises for many years. I am currently the Executive Director of Finance and Business Development of Cumbria Health on Call. Prior to this, I was the Finance Manager and on the Board of Impact Housing.
I have been on the Board of West House for about 10 years. I hold dear the mission, vision and values of West House not just because of the other jobs that have involved me in caring for people, but also as a Lay Reader in the Church of England. West House’s desire to put all people at the centre of what we do is very much my vocation too.
Background: I have over 15 years of experience in developing, providing and delivering educational courses for West House individuals and groups that covered a wide range of subjects.
West House provides a fantastic range of services and offers its staff brilliant opportunities and fulfilling careers within the health and care sector. I want to support West House by helping to raise public awareness of how good their range of services is.
Background: Now retired, I worked as a Community Psychiatric Nurse for Cumbria NHS Partnership Trust for many years.
I’ve been involved with West House since it started both professionally and socially. I enjoy being on the Board as I see it as a way to help the organisation as it develops. I’m also a big fan of the smashed avocado and poached eggs on toast in the Whitehaven Cafe!
Background: I am the Director of People Independent Advocacy and have been involved with the West House Management Board for over 15 years.
I originally joined the Management Board to find out more about what West House does. Over the years, I have enjoyed leading meetings and supporting West House as it has developed new services. I look forward to continuing to help West House develop.
Do you want to make a positive difference in someone’s life every single day? At West House, we pride ourselves on recruiting local people that are invested in the community we serve.
