Established in Cumbria over 30 years ago, we have remained true to our founding principles of offering the best quality care for those in our community. We pride ourselves on our reputation and the effect that we have on those in our care. The results are clearly visible within our community.
We want everyone in our organisation to live and breathe our core values. We know that everyone in our care and community is unique, that is why they are all treated and valued as individuals. We work in a collaborative, nurturing way with the whole family to ensure each person can realise their full potential.
We are all local people – from the top to the bottom. Our Management Board is made up of the people we support, family, carers and supporters from the local community. This means we always have the voice of the most important people at the heart of our organisation.
Our staff are all local, a part of the community and are fully trained to be able to offer the best quality of care. This includes undertaking the Care Certificate and Safeguarding and Dignity training as part of their induction and they are all subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
It is important that those who stay with us and their families see West House as home away from home – be it for a drop in session, for some respite or to stay for longer in our residential settings.
We offer full flexibility and support around the clock, seven days a week so you can have access to the care and help you need, when you need it.
We have a good relationship with many local partners including schools, colleges, Inspira, adult education, local health professionals, transition services and adult social care. This means we can integrate our services with other support you might be receiving.
Our focus is on supporting you and your family, so they can reach their full potential. We work creatively, in partnership with those we support, in the way they want and with the support they choose. We take great pride in the positive and meaningful relationships we make with our families, carers and all those involved with the individuals we support.
We understand the importance of community relationships and can support people to be a member of their local community. From volunteering with local projects, fundraising, finding local community groups that match their interests to ensuring they develop skills and relationships.
All of our services are rated ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’’ by CQC and Ofsted. Find out more here.
‘There is no greater joy nor greater reward than to make a fundamental difference in someone’s life’
We take great pride in the local community that we serve and that is why all of our staff are local. They are fully trained to the highest standard so we can offer the best quality care.
